Disclaimer

An honest, plain-language explanation of what our tools can — and cannot — be relied upon for. Please read this before using results for anything important.

Effective date: September 1, 2026

🔑 THE SHORT VERSION

Our calculators are carefully built on official IUPAC data and are excellent for learning, homework, teaching and everyday lab arithmetic. But they are educational tools — not certified laboratory instruments, not medical devices, and not professional advice. For any decision where an error could harm a person, a product or a grade that matters, verify independently.

1. General Disclaimer

The information and tools provided on MolecularWeightCalculator.org (“the Site”, “we”, “us”, “our”) are published in good faith and for general educational and informational purposes only. While we strive for accuracy in every calculation and every article, all content and results are provided “as is”, without any representation or warranty of any kind — express or implied — about completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability or availability.

Any action you take based on the information or results found on this Site is strictly at your own risk. We will not be liable for any losses or damages in connection with the use of the Site. This Disclaimer should be read together with our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

2. Scope — Every Tool on This Site

This Disclaimer applies to the entire Site and all of its tools, including but not limited to:

  • The molecular weight calculator and all of its modes — molar mass, percent composition, grams-to-moles conversion, molarity/solution preparation, batch comparison, and element mass finding;
  • Every related tool, calculator, converter, reference table or resource we publish now or add in the future — new tools are automatically covered from the moment they go live;
  • All articles, guides, worked examples, practice problems, downloadable files (CSV/TXT/print reports) and other content.

3. Educational Use Only

Our tools are designed as educational and informational aids. They are ideal for:

  • ✅ Homework, exam preparation and self-study;
  • ✅ Teaching, demonstrations and classroom use;
  • ✅ Quick everyday laboratory arithmetic that you then verify through your own procedures;
  • ✅ General reference and scientific curiosity.

They are not certified laboratory software, not a validated measurement system, and not a substitute for professional judgment, institutional SOPs, or regulatory compliance processes.

4. No Medical or Pharmaceutical Advice

🚫 Never use this Site for drug dosing, patient care, or any clinical decision. Nothing on this Site constitutes medical, pharmaceutical or healthcare advice. Molecular weight values used in medicine (e.g. converting mg to mmol, salt-form corrections, infusion calculations) must always be performed and verified by qualified healthcare professionals using validated clinical systems. If a calculation affects a patient, this is not the tool for it.

Always consult a licensed physician, pharmacist or other qualified healthcare provider for medical questions. Never disregard professional advice because of something calculated or read on this Site.

5. No Professional or Safety-Critical Advice

The Site does not provide professional engineering, industrial, regulatory, legal or financial advice. In particular:

  • Industrial production: batch recipes, formulations and QC decisions must be based on validated internal systems and cross-checked references — not solely on a free web tool.
  • Safety-critical work: where an error could cause injury, fire, environmental harm or regulatory breach, treat our results only as a preliminary cross-check, never the final authority.
  • Hazardous chemicals: our tools calculate masses — they do not provide safety data. Always consult the relevant SDS (Safety Data Sheet) and follow proper handling procedures.

6. Accuracy & Your Input Responsibility

We take accuracy seriously:

  • Calculations use current IUPAC standard atomic weights, giving results accurate to approximately four significant figures;
  • Tools are tested against known reference compounds before release;
  • Content follows our Editorial Policy and is reviewed by a qualified chemistry educator.

However, a calculator can only answer the question you actually ask it:

⚠️ Your input is your responsibility. A typo like CO (carbon monoxide) vs Co (cobalt), a forgotten hydrate (·5H2O), or a missed parenthesis produces a mathematically correct answer to the wrong question. Always review the element breakdown table to confirm the tool read your formula as you intended.

For isotope-specific work (e.g. mass spectrometry), note that our tools use standard average atomic weights, not exact isotopic masses.

7. Academic Integrity Notice

Our tools show step-by-step working precisely so you can learn the method. If you are a student:

  • Check your institution’s rules — some exams and assignments prohibit online calculators;
  • Use the Site to verify hand calculations and understand mistakes, not to bypass learning;
  • We are not responsible for academic penalties resulting from misuse of the Site against your institution’s policies.

8. External Links Disclaimer

The Site links to external websites we consider authoritative and useful — such as IUPAC, NIST, PubChem and Wikipedia. While we choose these links carefully:

  • We do not control external sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or policies;
  • External content can change after we link to it, without our knowledge;
  • A link is not an endorsement of everything on the destination site.

9. Advertising Disclaimer

To keep all tools free, the Site may display third-party advertisements (e.g. Google AdSense):

  • Advertisers are solely responsible for their ad content, products and services;
  • The appearance of an ad is not our recommendation or endorsement;
  • Ads never influence our calculations, content or editorial decisions — our scientific results have no sponsors;
  • Any transaction between you and an advertiser is entirely between you and them.

10. Errors, Omissions & Corrections

Despite careful work, errors can occur — in code, in content, or in the data sources themselves (IUPAC occasionally revises atomic weights). We commit to:

  • Fixing verified errors promptly under our Corrections Policy;
  • Keeping atomic mass data aligned with current IUPAC recommendations;
  • Welcoming error reports — they make the Site better for everyone.
💡 Found a mistake? Please report it with the page link and details — we respond within 24–48 hours.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MolecularWeightCalculator.org, its owner, authors and contributors accept no liability for any loss or damage — direct or indirect — arising from the use of this Site or reliance on its results, including but not limited to: failed experiments, spoiled batches or reagents, incorrect dosing performed against Section 4, academic penalties, lost profits, lost data or business interruption. Full details are in our Terms & Conditions.

By using this Site and its tools, you acknowledge that you have read this Disclaimer, understand it, and agree to its terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. We may update this Disclaimer from time to time — the effective date at the top reflects the latest version, and continued use means acceptance of any changes.
