DMCA Policy
We respect intellectual property rights — ours and everyone else’s. This page explains how to report copyright concerns and how we handle them under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Effective date: September 1, 2026
🔑 THE SHORT VERSION
All tools and articles on this Site are original work created by us. If you believe something here infringes your copyright, email us a complete DMCA notice and we’ll act within 1–3 business days. If someone has stolen our content, please tell us too. Scientific facts — like molar mass values — are not copyrightable and remain free for everyone.

1. Our Commitment to Copyright
MolecularWeightCalculator.org (“the Site”, “we”, “us”) respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users of the Site to do the same. We respond to properly submitted notices of alleged copyright infringement in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512, and comparable laws in other jurisdictions.
Because all calculators, articles, tables and graphics on the Site are created by us, third-party infringement on our pages is unlikely — but we take every report seriously and investigate promptly.
2. Ownership of Our Content
- Original work: Our calculator code, interface design, articles, guides, worked examples, tables, images and branding are original works owned by MolecularWeightCalculator.org and protected by copyright.
- Scientific facts are free: Atomic masses, molar mass values and calculation results are facts of nature — they are not copyrightable, by us or anyone. You may use any number our tools produce, anywhere, without permission or attribution.
- Public data sources: Our calculations are built on publicly available IUPAC standard atomic weights. We claim no ownership over that underlying data — only over our original code, text and presentation.
3. Filing a DMCA Takedown Notice
If you believe content on this Site infringes a copyright you own or control, send us a written notice containing all of the following (required under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)):
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed (title, registration number if any, or a URL to the original work);
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material on our Site — the exact URL(s) of the page(s), plus a description of which part infringes;
- Your contact information — full legal name, mailing address, telephone number and email address;
- A good-faith statement: “I have a good-faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.”
- An accuracy statement: “The information in this notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, I am the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.”
- Your physical or electronic signature (a typed full legal name is acceptable in email).
Send your complete notice to: contact@molecularweightcalculator.org with the subject line “DMCA Takedown Notice”.
4. What Happens After You File
- Acknowledgment: We confirm receipt of your notice, normally within 24–48 hours;
- Review: We review the claim and the identified material, typically within 1–3 business days;
- Action: If the notice is valid and complete, we remove or disable access to the material promptly;
- Notification: Where applicable, the party who posted the material is informed and given a copy of the notice (with your personal details as legally required);
- Record: We keep records of all notices and actions taken.
5. Counter-Notification
If material you posted was removed due to a DMCA notice and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notification containing:
- Identification of the removed material and its former URL;
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification;
- Your name, address, phone number and email;
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the courts in your district (or, if outside the US, the jurisdiction of our courts) and that you will accept service of process from the original complainant;
- Your physical or electronic signature.
If we receive a valid counter-notification, we may restore the material in 10–14 business days unless the original complainant informs us they have filed a court action.
6. Warning: False Claims
7. Reporting Theft of OUR Content
Our tools and articles are sometimes copied without permission. If you find our content republished elsewhere — our articles, our tool design, our code or our graphics — we genuinely appreciate a heads-up:
- Email us the URL of the copying site and the URL of our original page;
- No formal format needed — a simple message is enough;
- We will handle the DMCA process with the infringing site’s host ourselves.
8. Requesting Permission to Use Our Content
Want to reuse an article excerpt, table or screenshot beyond a short attributed quote? We’re usually happy to help teachers, students and researchers — just ask first:
- ✅ Always allowed without asking: linking to any page, quoting up to ~100 words with attribution and a link, using any calculation results, classroom screenshots for teaching;
- ✉️ Ask first: republishing full articles or sections, reusing our tables or graphics on another website, translating our content, or any commercial republication.
Send requests via our Contact page — most educational requests are approved quickly.
9. Repeat Infringers
In appropriate circumstances, we will restrict or block users, contributors or third parties who are determined to be repeat infringers of intellectual property rights. See also our Terms & Conditions.
